Our social commitment
i-pointing ltd. supports the Roland Berger Foundation and the German section of Médecins Sans Frontières with a monthly donation. We also support BISS – Citizens in Social Difficulty with a sponsorship and the children’s group “die Schlaumeier” of the Bavarian Red Cross day care centre in Hechendorf with designs for their PR.
In addition to the Roland Berger Human Dignity Award, the foundation is also dedicated towards promoting education. This takes the form of the "Fit for Responsibility" scholarship awarded to children and young people from socially disadvantaged families who are guided by voluntary mentors. In 2009, from the 600 applicants in the model regions of Upper Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg and the Ruhr region, 160 scholarship recipients were selected between the ages of six and twenty-five – 140 school pupils under 18 with the goal of achieving the general higher education entrance qualification and 20 students.
Roland Berger Foundation
In October 1993 the first issue of the magazine BISS - Citizens in Social Difficulty was published. The goal: to provide help with self-help. With a print run of 37,000 copies, BISS is sold at over 100 locations in Munich by people who are homeless or have been homeless. From the sales price of €1.80, the seller retains 90 cents. 35 BISS sellers are employed on a permanent basis thanks to sponsorships which cover part of the wages.
"Ärzte ohne Grenzen" is the German-speaking section of the international organisation Médecins Sans Frontières, which was founded in 1971. The private, independent relief organisation provides emergency medical aid in crisis areas and areas affected by war. MSF maintains health systems and guarantees medical training in over 70 countries. The relief projects vary, ranging from emergency medical aid and the (re) building of hospitals to constructing wells and raising medical awareness among the population.
The centre promotes independent learning in children. A learning club is also offered in the afternoon as a fun way to reinforce the children’s basic knowledge of German and maths. The children furthermore benefit from lasting experiences enjoyed during the annual overnight stays that are organised by the centre, such as a trip to Castle Schwaneck in Pullach or a thrilling ghost party.
